Raising funds to install floodlights at NDP in the close season.

We have launched a series of fundraisers to help the club pay for the installation of floodlights at New Dundas Park in the close season.

Race Night in the Masonic Hall on Saturday, March 30th.
Psychic Night in the Masonic Hall on Friday, April 19th.
Edinburgh Half Marathon which yours truly is entering on May 26th.

Why?
Under the 2019 SFA entry level license criteria it is now a mandatory requirement to have floodlights at your registered ground. This was not the requirement when we applied for an entry level license in 2018 and had we known in good time we would have diverted funds towards that requirement, instead of other ground enhancements.
We are still awaiting a decision from the SFA board if we will be granted a derogation (a license which will give us x amount of time to install floodlights, which can currently be granted to existing member clubs) but even if we are, we now need to accelerate our plans to install floodlights at NDP. It was always in our plans to do so, but not as quickly as we need to do now. We have started this process with the submission of a planning application to Midlothian Council in January (two weeks after we learned of the new criteria) and we are currently undergoing the consultation process.

But what about all of the money you made by playing Hibs at Tynecastle?
The Scottish Cup run a couple of seasons ago has allowed us to make a lot of changes to New Dundas Park. As our members that attend our AGMs are aware, we have invested upwards of six figures in ground and facility improvements at New Dundas Park over the past four seasons, not counting the work completed and substantial capital purchases by our two main sponsors - The McDermott Group & Grant Fitzsimmons & Son - as part of their sponsorship. It also doesn't count the labour costs which a lot of the friends of the club have given free gratis.

Cost
We are a completely self funded club which has been mentioned numerous times before and the irony is we are held back from receiving council funding because we own our own ground. Our council and others have provided lights and fantastic facilities for others to benefit from but it isn't an avenue we can go down, so we need to do it ourselves.
There are other funding streams we will pursue but the truth of it the numbers are small in comparison to the numbers we need to spend on the project in the summer. We will endeavour to complete the project at the lowest cost possible while still achieving the standard required as a minimum. Total cost for the project is expected to be well into five figures.

So what next?
We are where we are in relation to the club licensing and our fate is not in our hands. Any supporter or business that can help us out with any of the events above will be most appreciated with whatever donation for the 1/2 marathon however big or small or attendance at any of our scheduled events will be most appreciated. Any monies received from any of the three initiatives above will be ringfenced for floodlighting. Alternatively any supporter or business interested in helping us out is free to pick up with any of the officials at any time in person or my using the Contact page.

Ultimately we will do what we've always done with your help and get the job done.
