League match day 9 sees Bonnyrigg in much more familiar surroundings than for most of the season to date, with the visit to Newtown Park to face Bo'ness United. Between the two clubs they won seven of the sixteen East Region SuperLeagues before departing to the East of Scotland League in the summer.
The BU's had by their standards a shaky season as their last in the junior grade, with Steve Kerrigan taking over the reigns from Allan McGoningal in January before steadying the ship and leading them to eighth position. The current manager has held positions in the top tiers of both East and West Junior Superleague and his signings have come from both. They have had a much brighter start to this season and currently lie in sixth position, albeit with games in hand on everyone else in Conference B and are undefeated in the league, with draws against Haddington and Dundonald their only dropped points to date. They will be without three players on Saturday due to red cards picked up at the aforementioned fixtures. They still retain an interest in all of the cups entered this season with the exception of the Alex Jack Cup, which due to an admin oversight on a player suspension handed Camelon the trophy and with it a chance to earn a Scottish Cup place when they face the South of Scotland Cup winners of the equivalent trophy in that region.
Last Saturday was the manager's first game in the dugout proper and he will have been no doubt pleased with the performance from the players. Kerr Young returns from suspension and with a couple of other players sitting out last week due to knocks picked up he should effectively have a full squad to choose from.
If it is anything like the corresponding fixture last season where Bonnyrigg were 3-0 only for Bo'ness to peg the Rose back to 3-3, it promises to be a cracker.
