End of season thoughts from the manager.

Not really sure what to say to be honest. Can't lie to you though and it's a huge disappointment for everyone connected to the club to end the season with nothing to show for our efforts. Said it many times now those players deserved to win something for all they put into the season but at the end of the day we came up just short in all competitions.

Congratulations to Kelty for winning the league, the best and most consistent team over the course of the season wins the league. We wish Kelty well in their new venture into the East of Scotland league and I'm sure as a club they will keep growing and they deserve credit for the set up they now have and being brave enough to make the step.

Again, congratulations to Tranent on their win last Saturday. Darren and Kenny Rafferty have done a great job their since taking over and to win two cups in a week is an unbelievable achievement. The game itself I thought we were the better team over the piece though Tranent had a couple of good chances second half but when it came down to penalties it was just a lottery and it was a pretty cruel way to end our season.

Looking back over the season in the weeks to come I might look back and agree with everyone that has shaken my hand and said it has been fantastic season. At the moment though it hurts as I judge myself on being successful and we haven't won anything, There is no doubt that injuries to key players had a big impact, not just small injuries but guys out for the season. There has been others that have soldiered on manfully with injuries and tiredness has also came into play. I also feel that we didn't get the rub of the green with decisions in the run in, Saturday there was another debatable one, but we need to make sure that we are not reliant on decision to win a game of football

The next few weeks I plan to do very little, we have only had three weeks off in the last two years and it's looking like just three weeks again this year before pre season starts. The players have been told to do nothing but get the feet up. Over the last few weeks I've heard lots of talk about players not being available for games in June due to weddings and holidays etc. Got to remember these players have got lives too, they get paid for 40 weeks of the year but if you take our situation the players have worked for 49 weeks!! That isn't right and Junior football has to change. Fixture lists, games under floodlights are a must to avoid what we have faced along with other teams in the run in. The Scottish Junior Cup final should be last game of the season in Junior football on the last Saturday in May.

Anyway, enjoy the break and see you next season!

All the best!

Robbie
